Merry Christmas everyone who celebrates, a late/early/on-time/whatever it is for you happy of your Winter Holiday of choice and a good Tuesday wishes if you don't.

I spent most of Christmas Eve at my mother's, hanging out with family, watching many game shows while my mother cooked. It was very low-key, which is honestly the best thing it could have been, and I got to bring home food. We watched Muppet Christmas Carol, because I hadn't yet this year, and the Man Who Invented Christmas, because I hadn't yet at all. (I enjoyed the writing bits greatly, had some meh about other parts.) We did presents mostly on Yule (highlights: many many kitchen things, warm PJs, warmer robes, The Queens of Innis Lear which I need to start reading soon, and a staggering amount in gift cards, mostly from a very kind friend of my mother's), so we didn't even do that for the most part, besides the couple of things for my grandmother.

All in all, honestly a better Christmas than expected. When my family goes big we also go high-strung. This was pretty nice.

In other news lately, I have figured out why I was getting so little work with my job and fixed things, so I have hope that we'll be doing a good amount better financially from here on out, which is a humongous load off my mind. Now if I can just get the driving thing and doctor visits underway next month, I can completely pretend I'm an Actual Adult.

Other things I hope to get underway next month: I signed up for [community profile] getyourwordsout. Habits, not words, but I'm hoping it might help a little. I may be creating a filter to post for every day I manage it, both so I can have the info somewhere, and a place to track days that doesn't require a spreadsheet or something. We'll see. But if I can even get a little more writing done this coming month -- or at least not, like, burst write in January and February and then
completely stop again for the entire year, like I did in 2017 -- it would be nice.

I am running out of things to say, so I am gonna go answer comments/watch videos/get work done. Happy end of the year, all. Hopefully it's at least a decent last week.

Welcome One and All!

Tonight, at least up in the northern hemisphere, is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. My family tradition is for whoever can make it to spend the night awake, holding a vigil for the return of the light and the rebirth of the Sun King. Tonight I offer an open space to anybody who'd like to join me, whether for the entire night or just a little while, to come join in the cuddle pile and await the dawn.

(And if your version of joining in is setting up two feet away and offering good vibes from afar, you're just as welcome.)

So come on in! We've got every kind of blanket you can think of, fuzzy or not, oversized or tiny, weighted or as thin as you can get. We've got stories and songs, crafts and games, dancing spaces, roaring fires, and whatever else you need to get through the dark. We've got sleeping spaces and quiet spaces and loud spaces alike. We've got cider on the stove and eggnog in the fridge and coffee on the counter, snacks of every kind and room to bring your own. We've got hugs and hearts and kind words to remind you that you're here, and we're glad that you're here, and the light will come back.

I'll throw up a couple spots for sharing on a theme here and there -- songs and stories and if anything else comes to mind -- and you should feel free to float your own. Make yourselves comfortable. Have a happy Solstice, everyone. ♥

Blessed Samhain and a happy Halloween!

It... sort of doesn't feel like Halloween, despite the fact that I think I'm doing more for it this year than I have in a bit. (We have a few decorations, I have a costume, and we're doing a ritual tonight.) Maybe because I never got around to most of my yearly Halloween movies, maybe just a result of weird brains, I don't even know. But it's nice outside and I did just watch one of my favorite Halloween things (this cartoon), and there is beef stew and pecan pie waiting for us tonight, and I'm gonna try and enjoy the holiday the best I can.

And until it gets late enough that I can do holiday stuff, I'm gonna try and do word-ish stuff, so that's good too. I'm not doing NaNo this year because... yeah, that's a terrible idea, but I am gonna try and participate in Write Every Day since Bast is hosting it, so we'll see. Maybe I'll get a little something out.

In other news, I have a job opportunity, so any fingers crossed or good luck sent this way would be greatly appreciated.
