Snowflake Challenge: Day 8
I shall attempt to go backwards from here after this, but for now!
Day 8: In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it.
My creative output kinda fizzled after the first two months of last year, but despite that, it was my most productive year on Ao3 in a while, with a whole 5 fics put up, 4 for an exchange. And I'm actually pretty proud of most of it, which is nice? So here's the top three, and a bonus older thing.
In sort of a rough order of how happy I am with the fic:
1. and the sun just goes on rising
Peggy/Natasha, T, ~3.7k, Time Loop
On a routine SHIELD extraction job, Peggy gets stuck in a time loop with the woman guarding the man she’s come for. It turns out there are worse people to be stuck with.
This was my main Chocolate Box assignment last year, and I am really, really pleased by how it turned out, especially since I had to ditch about a thousand words of false start to get there, and that usually ends in scrapping things altogether for me.
2. the sky's always falling somewhere (sometimes it's just your turn)
Peggy Carter-centric, with Michael Carter + wolf characters, G, ~4k, Psychic Wolves AU
Content notes: loss of a sibling, focus on grief and mourning
Bonding young is unusual. Women with wolves are unusual. Human siblings bonded to litter-mates are unusual. And a person with two wolves is unheard of.
Peggy just keeps finding new ways to surprise people.
I started Peggy fic for
petra's Psychic Wolves for Lupercalia a year before I managed to post it; I hope to post more this year, because I have ideas for this story that span all the way from immediately after this part stops to Peggy dying, as well as a few side-snippets I'd really like to write about other characters. Regardless, though, I'm pretty happy to have it out there.
3. sing for the damage we've done (and the worse things that we'll do)
Wanda/Pietro/Steve, T, ~2k, Serial Killer AU
“It’s been a process, getting Steve on board, but it’s one that’s worth the wait. She itches to see what he could bring to the fight, to show him what she and Pietro can do – but he isn’t quite ready yet. Soon, she thinks.”
Wanda and Pietro come home unexpectedly early. Steve helps them to settle down.
I am pretty sure exactly three people wanted this to exist, and it was me, my partner, and the person I treated (and I'm not even 100% sure on the last one, but they seem to have liked it at least). This doesn't stop me from being kinda into this AU and sort of wanting to continue with it, because I had a whole bunch of shit going on in my mind that never made it to this short story. I may never get around to that, but honestly, I really like how this bit turned out.
4. And on another note entirely: I started a Fallen London AU graphic series a couple years ago, and promptly fizzled out after exactly two; but I still really like the idea and want to do more/possibly redo these a little, so I am sharing. (And also, even if I'm a little iffy on the graphics, I'm pretty happy with the little character-intro blurbs for both of them, so.)
The Venerable Detective (James Watson, Sanctuary)
The Resolute Strategist (Peggy Carter, MCU)
