Reccing Thursday: Metafiction and In-Universe Mysteries
It's Thursday and I'm mostly awake and feeling relatively okay compared to earlier this month, so let's do this thing! In case you haven't seen it yet, Reccing Thursday is an attempt to get people to rec things on, you guessed it, Thursdays. Rec a thing, rec many, read recs, have fun.
This week's theme is metafiction about in-universe mysteries and conspiracy theories! I may do more metafiction because I know I have a bunch more metafiction-y things saved but I am failing to find them right now, so here is what I found easily.
MCU: he's been dead for years by

A fic in the form of a Reddit Unsolved Mysteries thread about the disappearance of Peter Quill as a child. This is just amazing from start to finish; I love the idea of it and the execution is brilliant.
MCU/Buzzfeed Unsolved: The Enduring Mystery of the Winter Soldier by

So let me start with the disclaimer that I have never seen a single episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved. I kind of mean to, but I'm also pretty sure I shouldn't, so. But I found fic in the format of it that dives into canon mysteries for various canons and as it turns out, I will sit there and read that like popcorn whether I know the canon at hand or not. (My actual favorite from this person's series is their Supernatural and Stranger Things entries, but I wanted to rec something I knew at least half the canon on.) I just really love this format, and I love the idea of what really happened going dismissed half the time, and I don't know how true to the original show it is, but this person's take on it is fun to read and often makes me laugh.
Umbrella Academy/Buzzfeed Unsolved: The Bizarre Disappearence of Number Five by

And one more of these from another author. I've got very little to add that I didn't just say, I just really like this format, and I find this particularly of interest since you have to allow for a certain amount of weird shit, given the canon, and just... yeah. This is a fun read. :D
