I keep seeing the "ten most recent first lines/ten most recent last lines" thing go by, and I'm actually kind of interested in it, but I have had a brain-sucking couple of days and don't have the head to do it right now. (Nothing terrible, just a lot going on and a lot of tiny things going wrong.)

misbegotten did a version I rather liked, though, so let's try this: pick a number and I'll tell you my favorite line from that fic? 67 works on Ao3, so 1-67 it is!


(Man, I need to write more things so I can put them up on Ao3. My account is 9 years old next month; I don't know how likely hitting 100 is by the time it turns 10, but hitting 75 would be neat and maybe more doable? Especially if I can get a bingo in something during Camp NaNo like I'm hoping?)

who's gonna save a little warmth for me - MCU, Siren!Bucky from Steve's POV.

That's the first thing Bucky is to him: blood on his knuckles and that smile he had after they were both standing, easy and warm.

I go back and forth between really liking some of the bits of this fic and being awkward at all of it, but I generally am pretty happy with this line.

I had fun filling out the meme. It's a kind of narcissism? (I worry about that, sometimes, how wrapped up I am in myself) but it's interesting to look at your own works in meta kinds of ways.

I think it's really fascinating to see the patterns emerge and how people write! I'm just super awkward at my own writing. XD Especially finding things I like about it, which -- partly makes this meme a bad idea, but also makes me think actively trying to find things I like is a good idea.

#24 is and we've always been lost which is -- hoo boy, one that's hard to explain without canon knowledge, and even then is weird. XD Newsflesh, canon!Shaun/Fed AU!Georgia, universe-hopping to find a place they can stay together.

So maybe the dead don't come back. Maybe just the left behind can find their way.

(...Which also probably doesn't make sense out of context, but I do like it.)

I have zero idea of the context, but it sounds like it's playing with fun ideas about death/life and reality and what "living" or what "real" even means, which honestly is the kind of thing I wish I had better ideas to play with, sometimes.

Tattoos of Memory and Dead Skin on Trial -- Newsflesh, canon!Shaun/Fed AU!Georgia. I am kinda amused that I wrote all of two fics in this weird universe-clash AU and not only did both get landed on, but one right after the other.

One day, Shaun will know the scars and curves of this George's body better than the fading memories of the girl he grew up with.

Honestly looking at this fic, I am really happy with the whole thing, which is nice? It's a drabble and a half and it's so hard sometimes to land short fic, but I feel like this one works well, which is neat.

Honestly I wrote this on some random prompt and it's rambling and goes nowhere and I can't find any lines I really like, but this one still kind of amuses me, if just because I can so easily see Bev making ridiculous jokes like this:

Even though he's thought about dropping since the first class, when Lecter's introduction practically sounded like a love letter to mental illness, and Beverly Katz leaned over in their back row seats to murmur, "I've never heard someone sound so happy about depression before."

Easy Road - Chess, Svetlana. I'm having trouble pulling a line for this one; it's a four-sentence drabble and none of them really jump out at me as being that great. (I was mostly trying to find my characterization when I wrote it, and I think I threw it over to AO3 when I was setting up when I expected to put a looooot more of the tiny fics I'd written over the years up.)

This is another one that I'm still happier with the idea of having written than the actual words, I think, but simple as it is, I do like this:
