Fanfic Friday: Wizards wizards everywhere

It's Fanfic Friday again at [personal profile] shy_magpie's journal!

I thought I hadn't really read fic this week, but upon checking my AO3 history I am completely wrong and actually had to pare down to avoid flooding. Aaand I still ended up with enough things I wanted to share that I'm posting here instead of as a comment, so. Go me, I guess? It's nice to realize I'm reading more than expected.

Starting with the non-YW, since I forgot I went on a binge this week.

On the one hand this is a lovely, concise, well-executed story. On the other hand, I love this AU and it's so ridiculously in character that I want about a million more words of it. Instead I just end up rereading it every month or so, because it makes me smile.

Rogers' Neighborhood (2601 words) by Mikey

Fred was younger than Steve by almost ten years, but because Steve was so small and scrawny, they looked pretty evenly matched.

So I actually ran into this fic not realizing I was familiar with the author from another fandom entirely! That's unrelated, but it makes me laugh. Anyway, this is just sweet; it's adorable and quiet and it makes me give happy flaily hands.

Yeah, you read that right.

Yeah so I don't know if anybody else would give a damn about this fic, but man did it hit a spot I needed. I got really caught on this musical this week, and I went fic-searching, and this is just -- gorgeous and intense, and I loved it. And it gave me Jonas and Sam, which is really I wanted from fic for this fandom.

Aaand now Young Wizards spam! All Tom/Carl. Because that's what I go to YW fandom for. Someday I'll go back to reading the books and maybe look for other things, but Tom/Carl is one of my few OTPs, and I just like to nest it the pairing occasionally.

I haven't even read the book this one is centered on, but I'm aware of the event it's about and it hurts, and it hurts so beautifully.

One of the things that fascinate me about this series has always been the Speech, and the implications of the way wizards interact with it, and this gives me bits of that and bits of domestic sweetness and I love it.

Crazy Swale (407 words) by Elizabeth Perry

Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Carl Romeo/Tom Swale
Characters: Tom Swale, Carl Romeo

Aaand this is just ridiculous. And my new canon. And I love everything about it. (The base fic is great too, but I have not reread it in a while. I may go fix that now!)

Also tossing a link to previous comments, mostly so I can track them for myself and not share the same fics five times, since I tend to reread things frequently:
1 Sports Night, 1 Sherlock, 3 Harry Potter
1 Hannibal, 1 MCU
