Just Married 2022 letter for [archiveofourown.org profile] ifimightchime

Dear creator,

I am so excited to see what you come up with! There are so many good freeforms for this exchange; narrowing some of these requests down to 20 was brutal. I have some likes and some thoughts following, but all of these combinations are interesting to me as is, so please don't feel constrained if you have an idea already! That said, if you're looking for help or inspiration, hopefully something here will give you a nudge.

I have treats enabled and they are extremely welcome. All requests for this exchange are fic. However, as mentioned in my sign-up, I am very open to treats in another media! I don't think there's much marriage fic that meets the given freeforms in my chosen fandoms, but if you find one, I do love podfic and would be excited to see one. As I narrowed down freeforms most of the art-friendly ones ended up sacrificed, so I wasn't sure how to prompt for it in this exchange, but I'd love to see some if you have an idea -- here are art likes from another exchange, if you're interested!

DNWs & General Likes

DNW:
  • Graphic violence or gore. In particular, please avoid lingering descriptions of how wounds look, and particularly describing damage to eyes or eye sockets.
  • Graphic, onscreen non-con. Implications, discussion of, or as backstory is fine. Dubious consent is fine, especially if it's due to an outside force, or a partner being unaware of reasons a character's consent may be dubious.
  • Character or ship bashing, including unrequested ships.
  • Insects or infestations. Brief figurative mentions (like saying the people far below look like ants) are fine, as long as no insects actually appear.
  • Vomiting in detail. Brief mentions are fine.
  • Smut DNWs: Scat, watersports, anal penetration, daddy kink, impregnation/breeding kink
  • MCU-specific DNW: Fic set during Infinity War, Endgame, or the time between. (Elaboration in MCU requests!)

Hannibal (Request #1)

✦ Beverly Katz/Brian Zeller
✦ Will Graham/Beverly Katz

Beverly Katz is one of my favorite characters in this show, and I love how she interacts with both the science team and with Will. Her characters feels very grounded in the middle of the show's very particular, often surreal or philosophical tone, and I love how upfront she is and the way she shows she cares. Whether it's to accomplish something or it's solely because of feelings, I could see either of these being sweet and ultimately good for the people involved in a way I'm not sure I could say about 90% of potential Hannibal ships.

BDSM - Marriage to Protect Sub Character From Worse Fate in BDSM AU World
This is a lot more grounded than a lot of these freeforms, but BDSM-verse AUs are an absolute weakness of mine. I slightly prefer Beverly as the dom in this situation, but would happily read the other way around as well! Some potential ideas within this tag: the two are occasional play partners who have never had a proper relationship, now trying to navigate a new flux of intimacy; the sub falls into a service role when it's just the two of them as a thank you (and because of feelings), the dom is worried about taking advantage; expected rituals in public start carrying over into private.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Dreaming of your Alternate Universe Self's Marriage
    ▪ Magic - Shared Dreamscape Marriage
    ▪ Magic - Wedding Rings in Shared Dreams of Unmarried Pair Reveal Pining
Any kind of dream scenario seems like it'd be really interesting for this canon, given the canonical dream sequences and the general tone of it, and I'd love to see something that leaned into that surrealism for these prompts. I also really love the idea of a character spending more and more time in a dreamworld where things are better or they have something they can't have when awake.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Permanently Transported to AU; Married to Person Who's Dead In Theirs
    ▪ Dimension Travel - Temporarily Transported to AU; Married to Person Whose Dead In Theirs
"Woke up in another world where I'm married" is a trope I can't get enough of, and the addition of it being to someone you've lost already fascinates me. Does the one who's traveled over (probably Will or Brian, but if you want to do an AU where Beverly lost one of them instead I'm here for it!) think they're dreaming? How do they handle it? Do they tell their now-spouse or not? Do they try to get back, or would they rather just stay?

    ▪ Magic - Bringing Someone Back To Life Constitutes Marriage
    ▪ Magic - Marries Ghost To Resurrect Them
    ▪ Magic - Resurrection Ritual Requires Marriage
    ▪ Supernatural - Accidentally Marrying The Dead
    ▪ Supernatural - Marrying The Dead Keeps Them Alive
These freeforms are what made me first consider requesting these ships. I love the idea of either marriage to the dead, or marriage that brings someone back, and there's something about it that especially seems interesting with Hannibal's surreal tone. I'm fine with any kind of "came back wrong" if you'd like to include that (maybe that's why it constitutes marriage, because now you're somehow responsible for them?), or trauma from the death or time dead lingering, or things going well and everyone ending up happy about it.

    ▪ Magic - Trapped In Fake Perfect World That Includes Fake Perfect Marriage
Another one I feel could be fascinating (and probably very creepy) combined with the tone of the canon to begin with. I'm happy with something here where the character trapped realizes it, or already knows at the start of the story, or with something where the weirdness or wrongness is evident, but they continue to ignore it. What makes this world seemingly perfect? Where's the threads that prove it's fake?

    ▪ Soul Bond - Fake Soul Mark To Invoke Emergency Common Law Soul Bond Marriage
This is another one that's a little less out there, but is a favored trope of mine. I really like soulmate/soulmark fic where the people who get together don't have each other's mark, and the idea of faking it for some reason adds an interesting dimension to all of it. What are they trying to do by faking it? How do they feel about knowing they'll have to keep pretending to be soulmates after the emergency passes?

    ▪ Time Travel - Choice Made While Time Traveling Leads to Being Married Once Back in Present
I feel like there's a lot to play with here! Is it a choice made on purpose, something that came unexpectedly but out of direct action, completely unexpected? How do they feel about being married when they get back? Do they say anything about it? I also love fics where someone time travels, changes things, and then either has both versions of their life in their head, or takes a while to remember the new version of events, so they have to sort out what's real in this version of the timeline. Something like that revolving around a relationship they either don't remember or remember two ways could be really interesting (and potentially painful, if you wanted to go that way).

    ▪ Time Travel - People Stuck In Time Loop Get Married And Then Time Loop Ends Unexpectedly
I'd really love to see some aftermath here -- readjusting to life outside a time loop, residual codependency from their time trapped in one, worrying about it not really being over, trauma from reliving some intense experience, anything in that vein. Or, how do the people around them react to the sudden marriage? Were they even together before the time loop, or does it come as a complete shock?

Hannibal (Request #2)

✦ Will Graham/Abigail Hobbs
Abigail is one of my all-time favorite characters, and her relationship with Will is something I never get tired of reading more about. I love how complicated what we see in canon is -- Will's strong feelings and the way they cloud how he thinks of her, Abigail's wariness and the way she seems to try to connect back at him as soon as she feels like he might accept her, the way they're both manipulated by Hannibal in regards to each other. Either a romantic relationship or a marriage for other reasons between them seems like it would add to that in really interesting ways.

    ▪ BDSM - Marriage to Protect Sub Character From Worse Fate in BDSM AU World
I slightly prefer Will as the dom in this situation, mostly because I feel like I can see a situation where Abigail has to be saved, but I'd be interested to see how the reverse would work as well. Some prompts for this freeform: expected rituals in public start carrying over into private; marriage under scrutiny because of the situation; manipulative sub!Abigail trying to make sure Will is fully on her side and going to protect her against whatever the worse fate in question is.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Permanently Transported to AU; Married to Person Who's Dead In Theirs
    ▪ Dimension Travel - Temporarily Transported to AU; Married to Person Whose Dead In Theirs
"Woke up in another world where I'm married" is a trope I can't get enough of, and the addition of it being to someone you've lost already fascinates me, and especially in this situation, considering their original relationship. Does the one who's traveled over (probably Will, but if you want to do an AU with an Abigail who survives I'd be interested in that!) think they're dreaming? How do they handle it? Do they tell their now-spouse or not? Do they try to get back, or would they rather just stay? What's their backstory in this alternate world, and is it similar to how they met each other in canon?

    ▪ Fake Marriage - To Cover Even Bigger Secret
    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Because You Can't Trust Anyone Else
These seem to be on a similar theme to me! What's the secret in the first -- are they on the run together, or in their normal lives trying to hide something? Is it a shared secret, or is one of them doing this to help the other? In the second, is it in a general sense -- both of them have definitely had reason to have trust issues! -- or is there something specific going on? How did that lead to marriage?

    ▪ Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding
I'm curious what the setup would be here -- are they hiding from the law? Hiding from Hannibal? Something or someone else? -- but also, I just think this could be a very sweet option for a genuine romantic relationship between them. How would they celebrate, with something else going on?

    ▪ Magic - Bringing Someone Back To Life Constitutes Marriage
    ▪ Magic - Marries Ghost To Resurrect Them
As above, these freeforms for Hannibal are a really fascinating combination to me. I love the idea of either marriage to the dead, or marriage that brings someone back, and there's something about it that especially seems interesting with Hannibal's surreal tone. I'm fine with any kind of "came back wrong" if you'd like to include that (maybe that's why it constitutes marriage, because now you're somehow responsible for them?), or trauma from the death or time dead lingering, or things going well for them in the end.

    ▪ Magic - Shared Dreamscape Marriage
Any kind of dream scenario seems like it'd be really interesting for this canon, given the canonical dream sequences and the general tone of it, and I'd love to see something that leaned into that surrealism for these prompts. I also really love the idea of a character spending more and more time in a dreamworld where things are better or they have something they can't have when awake.

    ▪ Marriage - Help! I'm Falling In Love With My Spouse (And I'm Not Allowed To)
    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse
    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Both Distrust Love Because of Trauma; Fall in Love Anyway
Another set that aren't necessarily identical but go on a similar theme! I feel like the marriage coming first and the love coming later is particularly interesting for these two, because where they start off in canon has the potential to make things so rocky, and it's so likely to be frowned on by most people that the idea of what would make marriage the convenient or preferred option is interesting to follow. So I would love to see anything that features them falling in love while already trying to work out how to be married. (As for the first one: not allowed to because they're not letting themselves? Because it's arranged for Reasons [if you want to pair this with one of the other freeforms, maybe!] and this actually complicates things? ...Hannibal for some reason had this as part of his plans and they're potentially facing retribution and/or playing deeper into his hands if they do?)

    ▪ Marriage Laws - Marriage Required as a Form of Criminal Rehabilitation
    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Marriage To Save Criminal from Other Punishment
Don't think I have a lot to add here, but marriage-of-necessity to keep Abigail safe when she's alive, not hidden by Hannibal, and has had what she did for her father revealed just really intrigues me as a setup!

    ▪ Marriage Laws - Must Get Married To Be Considered An Adult
Handwave how this works as much as you want (something specific to Abigail's other circumstances works if you don't want to worry about what it implies for anyone else -- maybe put together with the criminal rehabilitation freeform, maybe she's not quite 18 when her parents die and it's one of the few ways to immediately give her adulthood status, maybe her father's still alive and she's trying to get away from him somehow, whatever you want to do with that), but similar to above, I just really like the idea of marriage-for-non-romantic-reasons between these two.

    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Marriage For Protection Does The Opposite Of Protect
What would the marriage be protection from, and is that the same thing that ends up causing the danger? Or a dark fic where one of them ends up being a danger to the other? (I'd prefer it to be on the lines of manipulation/gaslighting/emotional issues than physical abuse, in that situation, but I am interested in the setup!)

    ▪ Soul Bond - Reincarnated Spouses
I love reincarnation fic, and this is another setup where the way they first meet each other throws such an interesting wrench into the setup. How do they even start to realize it, and how do they feel about it, considering the rest of their relationship? Or, if you prefer to go for them being married in their canon-adjacent life and a future reincarnation figuring it out, how do they feel about it if they're getting flashes/memories/dreams of this particular past?

    ▪ Supernatural - Marriage To Stop Eldritch Forces From Re-Entering The World
My first thought on seeing this was Hannibal as the eldritch force. You absolutely do not have to go that way, though, if you have another idea!

    ▪ Supernatural - Siring New Vampire or Thrall as Marriage Equivalent
I'm fine with either of them being the vampire that turns/enthralls the other in this situation! I'm also interested in either the vampire one turning the other because they already have feelings, or turning the other to save them from dying or something bad happening, and then having to deal with having a new vampire-spouse-equivalent now. (In which case I am also fine with handwaving how that works -- or if you want to go into detail about how vampire marriage works, that also sounds like it'd be kind of fun!)

Last 5 Years

✦ Cathy Hyatt/Jamie Wellerstein
This is one of my all-time favorite musicals. The contrast between whoever's earlier in the timeline and who's later on is so painful at any given time, and gives this bitterness to even the sweetest moments -- doubly so in the stagings I've seen where they're never really onstage and facing each other during those solo scenes. Despite the marriage basically being the whole story, I still want more. That said, a lot of these I don't have much to say on, because they're fairly closely in line with the original canon. Please don't take that for a lack of enthusiasm -- I love the show, and I'd really love to see whatever you can come up with to expand on it!

    ▪ Newlyweds - First Fight as Married Couple
    ▪ Newlyweds - Mismatched Expectations of Marriage
    ▪ Established Marriage - Mutually Pining While Drifting Apart
Missing scenes! Feel free to fit these in wherever during the given timeline around what we do see, and basically just make me hurt as much as you'd like.

    ▪ Divorce - Coping with Missing Someone You Didn't Even Like Anymore
    ▪ Divorce - Newly Single Character Unlearning Unhealthy Patterns from Previous Marriage
On the other hand, I really like the idea of exploring their individual mindsets, post-divorce. Feel free to focus on one or the other rather than both of them together!

    ▪ Divorce - Amnesia Results in Forgotten Divorce
    ▪ Divorce - Faking a Relationship with Ex-Spouse
    ▪ Second Marriage - First Spouse Crashes Ex-Spouses' Wedding
So how do they interact post-divorce? Why would they feel the need to pretend to still be together? (Maybe something to do with family, or publicity stuff for Jamie's book, before the divorce is official?) If one of them forgets, does the other get nostalgic, or angry, or what? I just think that given where they end off the show, any of these could be an interesting situation. If you'd like to go for a getting-back-together, I discuss that a little more in the next set of prompts, but I'm also fine with that not happening here!

    ▪ Divorce - falling in love after divorce
    ▪ Divorce - the sex is better after the divorce
    ▪ Estranged Spouses - End Up Matched on Dating Site and Rekindle Romance
There are so many issues and problems in this marriage that a get-back-together arc seems like a terrible idea... so of course, I'd love to see it. Do they manage to grow and work it out better a second time around? Do they have an even worse relationship? Does it end happily, do they split again, do they end up together but it's clearly a terrible idea?

    ▪ Established Marriage - Making It Work But Work Is The Word For It
I was thinking an AU here where they don't split up, but this could probably fit in during the later part of their marriage as well! If you want to go in the other direction, I'd be interested to see what happens if it all goes bad, and then they decide to give it another shot anyway. What's the turning point? How does it work out?

    ▪ Pregnancy - Hoping the baby will make your spouse stay
I'm fine with it if they still end up split up, but I'm curious how the two of them would react, especially if it happened fairly late in the timeline of their relationship. Does it work? If they do stay together, how are they as parents? If they don't, are they both involved with the child, and how do they feel about each other in that situation?

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Request #1)

✦ James "Rhodey" Rhodes/Natasha Romanov
✦ James "Rhodey" Rhodes/Pepper Potts
✦ James "Rhodey" Rhodes/Tony Stark

I love Rhodey, and in the MCU I'm ready to ship more or less everyone who crosses each other's paths, but these are some of my favorite ships. Rhodey and Tony's entire friendship is one of the highlights of the entire verse for me, and while we get a lot less of him with Pepper or Natasha, I really enjoy every interaction with both of them.

Fandom-specific DNW: Fic set during Infinity War, Endgame, or the time between. After is fine, especially if you want to go for the ones related to a dead spouse for Natasha or Tony, but nothing during that particular plot.

    ▪ BDSM - Marriage to Protect Sub Character From Worse Fate in BDSM AU World
I really love BDSM-verse AUs, and I love this idea. I slightly prefer Rhodey as the dom with Tony or Pepper (no preference with Natasha), but either version is fine for me and seems like it would be really interesting. Some ideas for prompts within this setup: one or both wants it to be real but doesn't think it can be; the sub falls into a service role when it's just the two of them as a thank you (and because of feelings), the dom is worried about taking advantage; expected rituals in public start carrying over into private.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Getting Together After Meeting The AU Married Couple Version of Themselves
I feel like a lot of these dimension travel ones are fun for the MCU, since they seem less out-of-place here than in some other canons! How does this work out? Are there existing feelings that end up coming out on seeing their alternate selves, or did one or both of them never consider it until they saw the others? I also really like the idea of contrasting the difference between a version that has been together for a while and married and are sort of in sync because of that, and a version that isn't there -- or alternately, seeing a very familiar reflection of how they work together, with the addition of romantic intimacy.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Temporarily Transported to AU; Married to Person Whose Dead In Theirs
I'm going for temporarily here specifically because I feel like given this canon, it's more likely there's be the possibility of getting back -- but something ambiguous is also welcome! Otherwise I just really like the "suddenly landed in an AU where I'm married" trope, especially adding the angle of the spouse being someone they've already lost. How do they react? Do they admit it immediately, does it get coaxed out, do they try to hide it? Do they assume they're dreaming it? Do they want to get back, do they feel like they have to, do they get dragged back by whatever sent them there in the first place? Were they together in the original canon pre-spouse's-death, and if so, how do they feel about seeing a world where it worked out?

    ▪ Elopement - Celebrate Victory with Spontaneous Act of Marriage
    ▪ Vow Renewal Ceremony - Renewing Vows For "We Could Be Dead Tomorrow" Marriage After Peace/Safety
Not a whole lot to say here, I just think these would be very sweet for any of these ships! And very possible, given the universe they live in.

    ▪ Established Marriage - Making It Work But Work Is The Word For It
Outside pressures alone seems like it would be enough to make this applicable for any of these ships! I'd be interested in seeing that paried with internal pressures as well -- with Tony, I always feel like he and Rhodey care about each other and like each other, but maybe don't always entirely understand where each other is coming from; while with Natasha, they're coming from very different histories, and spy stuff probably does not incline you towards trusting super easily. (I am also happy to see this with Pepper! But I see less canon evidence for internal struggle between them; if you have ideas, though, I'd like to see them.)

    ▪ Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married While Mutually Pining
    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Both Agree for Both Practical Reasons and Love; Neither Believe This
I love the idea of actively pining while currently in a domestic, intimate situation with somebody. That's all I really have for this; any way you want to get them into this situation, I'd love to see.

    ▪ Magic - Bringing Someone Back To Life Constitutes Marriage
Canonical deaths for Tony or Natasha would be fine for this, or AUs for any of the four of them, but I really like this idea and would love to see something for it. I'm fine with any kind of "came back wrong" if you'd like to include that (maybe that's why it constitutes marriage, because now you're somehow responsible for them?), or trauma from the death or time dead lingering, or just reunion and a happy marriage after returning from the dead.

    ▪ Magic - Not Sure If Marriage Under Magical Circumstances Counts
Feel free to pair this with other suitable freeforms listed here ("bringing someone back to life constitutes marriage" or "choice made while time travelling leads to being married once back in present" particularly seem suitable here) or come up with some other magical marriage for them to land in! What's got who doubting -- both of them? one of them? -- and how do they get past that?

    ▪ Magic - Trapped In Fake Perfect World That Includes Fake Perfect Marriage
I could see this being extremely creepy if you want to go that way. I'm happy with something here where the character trapped (or maybe they're both trapped?) realizes it, or already knows at the start of the story, or with something where the weirdness or wrongness is evident, but they continue to ignore it. What makes this world seemingly perfect? Where's the threads that prove it's fake?

    ▪ Marriage Laws - Must Marry to Run Company
This one's kind of random, and I don't have a lot to add, but I just think this could lead to an interesting set up to get any of these ships in a marriage situation! (It's a little easier to work out with Tony or Pepper, but would be happy to see you work it out however you want for Natasha.)

    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Because You Can't Trust Anyone Else
I'd really love to see what lands them in this situation, and why marriage seems like the best option for it. Are they pretending to be in love to other people, and how does that go under pressure when alone together?

    ▪ Marriage of Convenience - Getting Married was the More Complicated Solution to This Problem
I really like the idea that a marriage of convenience is actually two people convincing themselves this is for convenience because they wanted it anyway, when it's actually not remotely the easiest way to fix things. Do they eventually admit it, or do they try to keep up the pretense, even if the relationship starts to develop past the circumstances?

    ▪ Proposal - Joke proposal becomes mutual running joke until whoops - we mean it
Not a lot to add here! I think this sounds cute, and like a fun way to slide a ship into marriage.

    ▪ Science Fiction - Superhero Married to Supervillain but Neither of Them Knows It
An AU set-up, but one I think would be interesting! Is this a version of the MCU where secret identities are kept a little more under wraps? How does it eventually come out? Do they manage to recover, or does it destroy the relationship? (I have a very slight preference for Rhodey as the hero -- I think in all three cases the other works better as the villain -- but would be interested to read the reversal as well. Also, feel free to make the villain a more anti-villain type, or go full dark AU for whoever the bad guy is.)

    ▪ Soul Bond - Marriage Despite Not Being Soulmates
I like the idea of two people who are destined to be with other people deciding, for whatever reason, to say screw it, and be together anyway. I'd love to see any kind of worldbuilding on this. How strict is the world around them, what kind of reaction do they get? Do they ever doubt their relationship or whether one or both of them should be looking for their soulmates?

    ▪ Soul Bond - Reincarnated Spouses
I just really like reincarnations! Especially when the reincarnations have leftover impulses or start getting memories from their past versions. I'm fine with the canon versions being the reincarnated ones, and seeing how they react to that realization, or seeing a future reincarnation of a world where any of them are married.

    ▪ Time Travel - Choice Made While Time Traveling Leads to Being Married Once Back in Present
I'd really love to see aftermath here, whether with or without what the choice is and why it happens. Is it a choice made on purpose, something that came unexpectedly but out of direct action, completely unexpected? How do they feel about being married when they get back? Do they say anything about it? Were there already feelings they're aware of, or are they completely surprised to see who their spouse is when they get back? I also love fics where someone time travels, changes things, and then either has both versions of their life in their head, or takes a while to remember the new version of events, so they have to sort out what's real in this version of the timeline. Something like that revolving around a relationship they either don't remember or remember two ways could be really interesting (and potentially painful, if you wanted to go that way).

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Request #2)

✦ Pepper Potts/James "Rhodey" Rhodes/Tony Stark
Putting some of my favorite ships together! I do very much enjoy the Pepper/Tony relationship, especially in the Iron Man movies, and I love how both of them interact with Rhodey. I'd honesty be happy with most of my above requests here too, if you wanted to throw in any for extra flavor, but there were several threesome-specific freeforms I liked for this ship specifically and wanted to single out!

A couple of freeforms here involve one married couple + not (legally) married third, or two getting intentionally married + one accidental. The most likely arrangement here seems to be Rhodey having feelings for one (or both?) of the canonically married couple, but I'm also happy to see an AU version with either of the others as the one outside the marriage.

Fandom-specific DNW: Fic set during Infinity War, Endgame, or the time between. If you want to go for an AU of after where Tony either doesn't die or is brought back, that's fine, but not during that plot.

    ▪ Accidental Marriage - Included Unwitting Third Party In Marriage Accidentally
Handwave how this happens all you want, but the idea of it sounds really entertaining for me. How do any of them feel about accidentally having a third person involved? Do they try to fix it, agree to just pretend it didn't happen because fixing it is a pain, "agree" to fix it but procrastinate because of feelings, or what?

    ▪ Established Marriage - Couple Practically Married to Best Friend
Don't have much to say about this, but I could see this dynamic developing between the three of them and leading to a relationship, and I think it would be sweet!

    ▪ Poly Marriage - Figuring Out New Routine/Moving Into Each Others Space
Domesticity! I just really like the idea of that period where things are still being worked out, especially when you have the added complications that come with more people involved, whether the three of them have gotten married and are working out the new routine from scratch, or an existing two-person marriage expands to a third and things have to be rearranged.

    ▪ Poly Marriage - Fuck Whatever the Laws Say. We're Married
    ▪ Poly Marriage - Sedoretu AU - Three Would-Be Spouses Look for Fourth
I don't have much to say for either of these, so lumping them together! I like poly fic, and I like sedoretu AUs, so either of these as a setup for marriage fic for this would be interesting to see.

    ▪ Time Travel - Current Marriage Interrupted By Spouse From Alternate Timeline
My first thought for this was the two of them married in one universe, being interrupted by a version of the third from another timeline who's married to one or both of them, and I'd love to see three of them figuring out a relationship in that kind of situation. But I feel like this is a little bit ambiguous, so if you have another idea, I'd be really interested to see other interpretations!

    ▪ Wedding - Best Man/Bridesmaid Crushing On The Groom/Bride
Fittingly, my first association with this trope is the movie Chances Are, so on a meta level, bringing this in for this ship just makes me laugh. Otherwise, I just think it could be cute! I'm fine with one-sided pining -- for either of the involved parties, or for both of them at once! -- or with it ending in a get-together at or after the wedding.

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Request #3)

✦ Wanda Maximoff/Pietro Maximoff
There was not enough Pietro for my taste in the MCU altogether, but what little we got of these two together was so good. The closeness between them, the way they care about each other, the way they work together, all of it works for me, and all of it makes me want more. And I love the idea of siblings playing out marriage tropes, so I'm very interested in it for this fest's options!

I have not seen the new Dr Strange film, so nothing from it is present in my prompt. However, I have absolutely no problem with spoilers if you want to use elements in fic. (I'm under the impression some of them may line up fairly well!)

Fandom-specific DNW: Fic set during Infinity War, Endgame, or the time between. (Easy enough for this one, considering the lack of Pietro!)

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Permanently Transported to AU; Married to Person Who's Dead In Theirs
    ▪ Dimension Travel - Temporarily Transported to AU; Married to Person Whose Dead In Theirs
I love the idea of a character suddenly finding themself in an alternate world where they're married, and especially the possibilities when it's to somebody whose loss they've already dealt with. The sibling angle adds an addition consideration here -- do they (probably Wanda given canon, but I'm also interested in a reversal AU!) land in a world where they're not actually siblings? Are they fake-married, or lying about their relationship? (If you want to blend this with other freeforms and have those be the background for this alternate universe, feel free!) Do they tell the other, can the other tell something weird is happening? Do they try to get back, or even want to get back? Were there feelings pre-death in the traveler's original world, or does being married to their twin completely surprise them?

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Visions of Alternate Timeline Where Impossible Marriage Happens/Works Out
I feel like this would be incredibly sad, especially in a world where Wanda still lost her brother and is having these visions (or if you'd prefer, Pietro lost his sister and starts having them). On the other side, a world where they're in each other's lives and one or both of them starts having them could lead to some interesting places!

    ▪ Elopement - Incestuous Couple Elope to Somewhere No One Knows They're Related
    ▪ Wedding Ceremony - Incestuous Wedding Held in Secret
    ▪ Forbidden Marriage - Considering Themselves Married Even If In The Eyes Of The Law They're Not
    ▪ Forbidden Marriage - Symbolic Marriage Ceremony Because Legal Marriage Is Not Permitted
I don't have a lot to add to any of these, but I'd really love to see them -- these are more or less the tropes that draw me to the combination of incestuous ships and marriage tropes, so anything you want to do with these, either alone or in combination with other freeforms, would be fantastic.

    ▪ Fake Marriage - To Cover Even Bigger Secret
So what's the secret, and how does the marriage help? Are they pretending to be married because they're wanted as siblings, and this is a step to make them harder to find? Is there something else going on where hiding what their real relationship is helps? Or is this a situation where people know they're twins, in which case, what could possibly be so big that this distraction from the fact is necessary? And how do they feel about playing married?

    ▪ Magic - Bringing Someone Back To Life Constitutes Marriage
    ▪ Magic - Marrying the Dead as Part of a Resurrection Spell
I love the idea of Wanda bringing her brother back, and I feel like this could be an interesting side-effect of it. I'm fine with any kind of "came back wrong" if you'd like to include that (maybe that's why it constitutes marriage, because now you're somehow responsible for them?), or trauma from the death or time dead lingering, or just a happy reunion. And I'd really like to see how Pietro feels when he comes back and finds out!

    ▪ Magic - Magical Abilities are Stabilized after Marriage
    ▪ Science Fiction - Marriage to Calm Telepathic Minds
I don't have a lot to add here, but I find this a really interesting idea! I'd love to see how they feel about this -- do they consider it a real marriage under these circumstances? Does closeness or intimacy make any difference, or just being married, and if it does, do they get even more dependent on each other?

    ▪ Magic - Wedding Rings in Shared Dreams of Unmarried Pair Reveal Pining
I'm really interested in what kind of dreams there might be for this! Very mundane dreams of a different life together, or something more surreal or weird? Do they know they're dreaming during them? For that matter, do they realize that they're sharing these dreams, or each think it's their dream alone? Whether they know or not, does it affect how they react to each other while awake?

    ▪ Marriage Laws - Society Allows Sibling Marriage As Form Of Platonic Partnership
In this instance, I'd really like to see the "platonic" part of this as a cover for a romantic relationship, and how having to pretend to not be in love in public even though they're married might affect them! Or otherwise, starting as a platonic partnership, and developing into something romantic afterwards.

    ▪ Soul Bond - Incestuous Marriage is legal if Soul Bond exists
I love soulmates and soul bonds, and I feel like this would be an interesting version of it. Is it fully accepted as well as being legal, or does it still get considered strange/wrong by people who know they're also siblings? What's the bond between them like, and how do they feel about it?

    ▪ Soul Bond - Reincarnated Spouses
I really like the idea of these two, as siblings, starting to remember or have instincts from a former life where they were married. Does it make a kind of sense to them or shed light on existing feelings, or does it cause them to start having unexpected feelings? How do they deal with it?

The Bifrost Incident - The Mechanisms

✦ Loki/Sigyn
Another canonical married couple I just want more of! This is such a short canon and the time we get revolving around the two of them is brief, but from the very first few moments at the end of Sigyn, I was sold. There are so many gaps to fill in here and so many ways that you could go with them, so seriously, show me your idea of how this marriage worked, because I want about a million versions of it.

    ▪ Engagement - Engaged in Secret
    ▪ Established Marriage - Making It Work But Work Is The Word For It
    ▪ Established Marriage - Rescuing One's Spouse From Danger
    ▪ Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding/On The Run
    ▪ Magic - Wedding Rings in Shared Dreams of Unmarried Pair Reveal Pining
    ▪ Marrying for Love - Fantasizing About Getting Married
    ▪ Marrying for Love - Getting Married After Having Been Together For Many Years
    ▪ Newlyweds - Mismatched Expectations of Marriage
    ▪ Proposal - "We Could Be Dead Tomorrow So Let's Get Married Today"
    ▪ Wedding Ceremony - Improvised and Unofficial
    ▪ Wedding Night - newlyweds never thought they’d get this far; now what?
    ▪ Wedding Planning - Discussing How to Handle/Blend Spouses' Different Traditions
There's a lot in this, but it's basically all on the theme I said above: just show me your thoughts on their backstory! Impulsive marriage, long secret engagement, long relationships before managing to be married? How did the wedding night/honeymoon go? How different are wedding traditions on Asgard and on Midgard, and did they want to include anything related to Loki's background, or did Loki prefer to dive wholeheartedly into a Midgardian wedding? (What are Midgardian wedding traditions? -- I love worldbuilding like that, so if you want to go into it please do!) How hard is running the Midgardian resistance on their wedding/early days of their marriage?

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Kidnapped by AU Counterpart’s Spouse
There are so many ways I feel like this could go, especially once the eldritch stuff gets thrown in. A version of Sigyn shows up to save Loki from captivity, or from being captured in the first place? A version of Loki tries to get Sigyn out of the way of the eldritch stuff she finds out is happening with Odin? Is there some darker reason -- maybe a version of Loki who ends up swayed or brainwashed to believe Odin wants her wife with her, and this is how she does it?

    ▪ Established Marriage - Amnesia Results in Forgotten Marriage
    ▪ Second Marriage - To Amnesiac Spouse Who Has Forgotten the First
AU where somehow they survive the Ratatosk and get remarried and end up having a happy life? Or maybe getting blown to another dimension/back in time from the ending, and end up remarrying there? Slightly less AU where everything goes the same but Loki doesn't fully remember, and Sigyn is telling her about their lives together before their death? In general, I think there's a lot of tragic possibility in Loki's memory being gone, and I'd love to see something that played on that.

    ▪ Magic - Having to Remarry due to Death and Resurrection
    ▪ Vow Renewal - Ghosts Renew Their Vows Now That Both/All Spouses Are Dead
This is basically the closest to a canon-possible happy ending I can see for them -- together in death, or in resurrection -- but I'm happy to see a darker take on it as well!

    ▪ Science Fiction - Slowly Realising Your Spouse Has Been Replaced By a Doppelganger
My first thought here was an AU where instead of fake-execution, Odin sends a fake-Loki (how? who knows, blame the Eldritch gods) -- maybe trying to both have her engineer to end the world and spy on the resistance? -- and Sigyn starts to realize it. Or alternately, Loki still has her memories (either at first or just period), so Odin somehow puts her in a fake marriage scenario to keep her calm. Any way you want to work this, though, I just think it's a chilling idea, and I'd love to see how either of them realizes or handles it.

    ▪ Time Travel - Marriage Gets Erased From The Timeline (Accidentally)
This is another one I feel like could be part of a happier version of events -- one of them time travels and saves the world maybe, but the marriage is overwritten, but now they can fall in love and marry again? Ending tragically would be very in line with the rest of their story, though, and in general I'd just be interested to see how it would play out.

    ▪ Time Travel - Travels to Relive Wedding Day with Spouse Who Has Since Passed Away
Just make me hurt, basically. I am always in need of more stories of Sigyn's period of mourning while she thinks her wife is dead and this one is so painful. (Or if you want to flip it and let Loki be the one missing her wife this time around!)

Welcome to Night Vale (Request #1)

✦ Kevin/Cecil Palmer
Night Vale is kind of a comfort canon for me, and I am so fond of Kevin. I loved him from his awful beginnings, and I loved him even more after episodes like Triptych gave him extra depth. I really like how these two interact; every time they do, it ends up pulling an episode into favorite territory for me. I've listened to early episodes more than later, so some prompt ideas are directed more towards the first couple of years, but while my later listening is kind of sporadic, I have kept up generally with the plot and I always listen to the ones where Kevin shows up again, so I'm happy with something set later on as well!

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Means of Keeping Enemy Under Control
    ▪ Forced Marriage - Marrying Someone You Don't Like To Save Them From A Worse Fate
Post-Strexplot AU where Kevin ended up stuck in Night Vale, maybe, or Cecil ending up in either version of Desert Bluffs? Either way, it seems either option could put them both in an interesting position stuck together. Do they manage to commiserate at all, or do they end up at odds with each other?

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Expecting Hurt; Receiving Kindness
I feel like this could be interesting and work in either direction. Kevin gives pretty good reason to expect him to be violence, but also could easily be expecting it as just how things work. In either way, how do they react and how do they feel when it never actually comes?

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Future Spouses Are Forbidden To Meet But Are Able to Study One Another's Hobbies
In general, this sounds interesting, but in context of just who the two of them are (and especially Kevin), the idea of getting that out-of-context information sounds hilarious. Please be as weird as you'd like with their individual choices of hobbies if you want to go that way.

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Marriage Is Suddenly Determined By A Higher Power
    ▪ Arranged Marriage - arrangement made when one or both was a child and now they're grown up
    ▪ Arranged Marriage - partners randomly chosen through government lottery
    ▪ Forced Marriage - By Corporate Overlords
Given the general weirdness, any of these seem likely enough in Night Vale (or Desert Bluffs)! It'd be interesting to see the reaction to being assigned to each other, or how they manage (or don't manage) to make things work afterwards.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Enemies or Just Friends Find Out They're Married In An Alternate Universe
I'm fine with the shippy part of this being on the other version's part, and the canon version reacting, or for this to spark some kind of feelings or get-together! It's another one I feel like could be very entertaining, given how they generally interact, or possibly sweet, kind of like the future bits of Triptych.

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Kidnapped by AU Counterpart’s Spouse
There are a whole lot of ideas I could see here for why this could happen (to save them from a fate that happened to the AU version? compelled by Something? thought they were the imposter counterpart? just how they do foreplay and got the wrong universe's version?) and I'd love to see pretty much any take on it!

    ▪ Established Marriage - Amnesia Results in Forgotten Marriage
Considering the weirdness with time in Night Vale -- and even the weirdness with memory and personal histories -- I feel like an AU where they were married at some point and then forgot (because of normal amnesia, or forced to forget) would be plausible, and also interesting. Do either of them have any inkling? What do they think of it when they remember and/or figure it out?

    ▪ Honeymoon - Thought the Honeymoon Would Be Bad and They Were Right
Another one I think could just be funny, or possibly very unsettling depending on what kind of bad! Just show me how things go wrong.

    ▪ Magic - Magical Marriage Required To Bring Prosperity And Growth To Ruined Land
I really like the idea of this and how it might work! I feel like both of them are so invested in their respective cities that if something like this was required there, they could be convinced to do so (whether it affects them both, or they have to talk the other one around to helping).

    ▪ Newlyweds - Helping New Spouse Settle Into Their New Clan/Village/City/Country
    ▪ Newlyweds - Mismatched Expectations of Marriage
Either one of these seem likely, all things considered, and I'd be really interested in seeing how they deal with this! If you'd like to pair this with any forced/arranged marriage freeforms as well, this seems like it'd make for an interesting match-up, though adjusting after a willingly chosen marriage would also be interesting in this instance.

    ▪ Proposal - Accidental Proposal due to Cultural Differences
Yet another that seems weirdly likely and also like it could be very entertaining. Who accidentally proposes to who, and how does the other react to it, whether if it's in the context of their relationship in canon or an existing romance?

    ▪ Supernatural - Marriage As Part Of Channeling A God
I was thinking of Kevin channeling the Smiling God -- whether Cecil is doing so willingly or not! maybe an AU where Strex's takeover of Night Vale is more successful and they're both fully invested in this? -- but if you want to go the other way around, I would also be interested to see how that works! And how marriage even helps in this situation, for that matter!

    ▪ Supernatural - Marriage To Stop Eldritch Forces From Re-Entering The World
Kind of the opposite of above! Trying to keep the Smiling God away, or keep out something even worse? What would be bad enough to get the two of them not just on the same page to stop it, but on the marriage page in order to do so?

    ▪ Time Travel - Married Couple Trying To Matchmake Past Selves That Hate Each Other
This just sounds like it would be really entertaining! And the early Sandstorm/Strexplot Night Vale is some of my favorite episodes, so revisiting those alongside a future, married version of Cecil and Kevin would be delightful.

Welcome to Night Vale (Request #2)

✦ Carlos/Kevin/Cecil Palmer
A lot of what I want here is similar to the above set, and some of the tags are going to be for exactly the same reason. (The ships are separate largely because there are some three-person tags I particularly wanted for this version!) I also really love Carlos, I love Carlos and Cecil's whole relationship, and I started shipping him with Kevin in that desert otherworld episode so... three great tastes made even better together!

    ▪ Accidental Marriage - Included Unwitting Third Party In Marriage Accidentally
This just seems like it could be really entertaining to me. Kevin seems like the most likely third party here, and the reaction when Cecil and Carlos realize it, and how any of them feel about it, seems like it could be hilarious, but I'm also here for an AU where one of the others is the third party!

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Means of Keeping Enemy Under Control
    ▪ Forced Marriage - Marrying Someone You Don't Like To Save Them From A Worse Fate
    ▪ Soul Bond - Marriage That Results In Soulbond To Keep Enemy Under Your Control
Post-Strexplot AU where Kevin ended up stuck in Night Vale, or Cecil and Carlos ending up in either version of Desert Bluffs? Either way, it seems either option could put them in an interesting position stuck together. Do they manage to commiserate at all, or do they end up at odds with each other?

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Expecting Hurt; Receiving Kindness
I feel like this could be interesting and work in either direction, more around Kevin with them both than Cecil and Carlos with each other. Kevin gives pretty good reason to expect him to be violence, but also could easily be expecting it as just how things work. In either way, how do they react and how do they feel when it never actually comes?

    ▪ Arranged Marriage - Marriage Is Suddenly Determined By A Higher Power
    ▪ Arranged Marriage - partners randomly chosen through government lottery
    ▪ Forced Marriage - By Corporate Overlords
Given the general weirdness, any of these seem likely enough in Night Vale (or Desert Bluffs)! It'd be interesting to see the reaction to being assigned to marry, or how they manage (or don't manage) to make things work afterwards.

    ▪ BDSM - Submissive Assigned to Dominant-Dominant Pair to Save Marriage
I'd particularly like to see Kevin as the assigned submissive here, though other options are also welcome! I'm also fine with the marriage not actually needing saving, but some weird Night Vale happening or law making it legally need saving, and therefore, have a submissive!

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Accidental Marriage to Spouse’s AU Counterpart
    ▪ Science Fiction - Slowly Realising Your Spouse Has Been Replaced By a Doppelganger
With either of these, I'd be interested in seeing something playing with Kevin being positioned as Cecil's double. Does that lead to the accidental marriage? Does Kevin do something to displace Cecil and then manage to keep up a ruse (or Carlos is distracted enough it takes a while to tell)? Fudge the timelines so Strex is still around when Cecil and Carlos are married, and does a stealthier takeover than involves replacing Cecil with Kevin?

    ▪ Dimension Travel - Kidnapped by AU Counterpart’s Spouse
There are a whole lot of ideas I could see here for why this could happen for any of them (to save them from a fate that happened to the AU version? compelled by Something? thought they were the imposter counterpart? just how they do foreplay and got the wrong universe's version?) and I'd love to see pretty much any take on it!
